On January 27, 2022, YUIMA NAKAZATO presented its 11th couture collection “LIMINAL” at Haute Couture Week in Paris. This was the first physical runway show held in Paris after a two-year hiatus caused by the global pandemic.

The inspiration for this collection is the Chimera, a fantastical creature long relegated to the world of myth and legend. Now, however, we can finally say that such myths are gradually becoming reality.

The nebulous space where fiction becomes fact—born from the confluence of cutting-edge technology and ancient wisdom—could be said to represent the pinnacle of humanity’s achievements thus far. The collection’s title, LIMINAL, was chosen to symbolise this ambiguous domain of limitless values and possibilities.

YUIMA NAKAZATOは2022年1月27日、11度目のオートクチュール ・ウィークへの参加となる2022年 春夏コレクションを、2年ぶりとなるパリでのランウェイ・ショーを通じて発表しました。

コレクションのインスピレーションとなったのは、様々な神話に登場する想像上の生き物Chimera。しかし現代において、それらは現実に創り出すことが可能になりつつあるといいます。

想像が現実へと変わる、その途中の曖昧な領域は、最先端の科学や先人の知恵などを結集し導き出される、人類がたどり着いていた最も先端の領域と言えるでしょう。

タイトルのLIMINALとは、何かと何かの間にある、曖昧な領域を意味する言葉。今シーズンのコレクションでは、この曖昧な領域こそ新しい価値観と可能性の象徴と捉えました。
